Words sort of lose their meaning as to describe the type of help this place provides. Life Challenge is run by Pastor Jack Mosley, who is one of the best men I've ever had the privilege of knowing. He's a hard nosed, blue collar man that believes in the Lord, a hard days work, and most of all; helping people that need deliverance from the perils of addiction/life. I spent 6 months out of 12 here and I can tell you that I left a changed man. I got to experience the trials of life in a safe environment, that has plenty of support, and places to turn for guidance. It's Christ based-Jesus Christ. The modas operandi of this program is to turn your life over to Jesus Christ, and use that as a way out of the addiction. The utmost important thing that I can say about the experince here, is that Life Challenge TREATS THE INDIVIDUAL not the disease. For instance, they don't just teach how not to drink, they help you figure out the underlying cause of WHY you want to drink, and help you cope with it in the best way possible. You can't just put a band aid on a wound, you have to close it off at it's source. Life Challenge does this. The curriculum, the Christ based classes-everything, is focused on treating the underlying cause of addiction, NOT the addiction itself. This is the key to helping actually helping people. The woman that does case management for the clients is quite honestly the hardest working woman I've ever met in my entire life. She takes an interest in each client on a personal level, and I really can't say enough good things about her. I don't dole out compliments lightly but she is without a doubt one of the most real, wholesome people I've ever met in my 29 years of existence.
